Start Linux terminal by shortcut

Little note about how to start a terminal with a shortcut (hotkey). I'm using Debian8 with Gnome in the example.

Of course, you could call it by pressing the command key and selecting it in the Favourites menu:

If it's not presented here, just type its name in field "Search" above the screen:

Don't forget, that with right click on the icon you could "Add to Favourites", just to see it in a menu like in the first picture.

But! If you want to do it faster, you have to use hotkeys. To configure a shortcut, open menu in the right upper corner and select "All settings" icon:

After it, select the "Keyboard" icon:

Now select tab "Shortcuts" and chose "Custom Shortcuts". Press "+" and set name for a shortcut (could be any name) and set command gnome-terminal. Press Add. Last thing, in new row press in the word "Disabled" and press your combination:

That's it! Now press your shortcut at any time and a new terminal window will be opened! Profit!
